Online Letter 141
14 August 2020
Dear Online Friend(s),
Greetings in the Name of Jesus the Redeemer, Deliverer and Liberator!
Independence Day greetings to all my Indian brothers and sisters living in India and all over the world! On this 74th Independence Day, let’s thank God for His mercies on our motherland all these years. Though the celebration mood is not mirthful as usual this year, due to the disastrous pandemic, the fact remains that God used our national leaders and volunteers of the 1930s and 1940s to fight for freedom sacrificing their lives. We salute them as we salute our national flag.
The desire for freedom is the natural instinct of human heart. History has been full of struggles for it. The Palm Sunday shout of “Hosanna” by the Jews was both for personal salvation by the Messiah and political liberation by the King (John 12:12-15).“Hosanna” in Hebrew means, “Save us, Lord!” Our cry today should be the same: “Almighty God, save each of the 1,380,004,385 Indians as it is Your desire that all men and women should be saved. And save our Nation from divisive politics so we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Tim 2:1-4).
Attached is a Prayer I’ve prepared in English, Tamil and Hindi, along with the video versions. Offer this Prayer individually and in small groups, perhaps through Zoom, so our Nation might experience a fresh visitation from God. The purpose of Thomas, one of the twelve disciples of Jesus, coming to India in the very first century itself must not be defeated!
