Online Letter 103

26 May 2019

Dear Online Friend(s),

Greetings in the Name of the Resurrected Saviour and the Ascended Lord!

As an attachment to my previous letter (Online Letter 102), I sent you an article, “Between Resurrection and Ascension.” I had highlighted the ten post-resurrection appearances of Jesus and what we learn from each of them. Thanks for your feedback.

Ten days after Ascension came Pentecost. It was 50 days after Resurrection. Pentecost was a Jewish festival, called the Feast of Weeks, Feast of Firstfruits or Feast of Ingathering (Ex 34:22; Lev 23:15,16,20; Dt 16:9-11). It was the 50th day after Passover, and so came to be called as “Pentecost” in Greek (Acts 2:1; 20:16; 1 Cor 16:8).

The Ascension was the going up of Christ the Second Person of Trinity from earth to Heaven. Pentecost was the coming down of the Holy Spirit the Third Person of Trinity from Heaven to earth. There were 10 days in between. Pentecost was a fresh visitation from God’s presence. Many such “times of refreshing” can be expected before the Return of Christ (Acts 3:19-21). The happenings during the 50 days, between Resurrection and Pentecost, give us five primary lessons on Preparing for Revival. The article attached to this letter explains the same. I wrote this article in 1987. No revision was found necessary after 32 years! Biblical truths are eternal.

According to the Christian Calendar of 2019, the Day of Ascension falls on 30 May and the Day of Pentecost on 9 June. Do take time to read this article and forward it to your Christian friends everywhere. It will be useful for personal meditation and pulpit preaching in this Season. Happy Pentecost!
