Online Letter 99
23 March 2019
Dear Online Friend(s),
Praise God for His Written Word which is the Holy Scriptures and the Incarnate Word which is His Holy Son!
“The Christian Missionaries taught us to read, but the Communists gave us the books!” This old saying explains the power of the printed page. Even though the reading habit among the people, especially among Christians, is dwindling, the pen is still mightier than the gun!
Christian writers depend on publishers to carry their message to the Christian and non-Christian communities. Praise God who has raised numerous Christian publishing agencies in India during the last 50 to 100 years. Though several of them have become business-minded, there are still a few who are service-oriented. One among these few is the Evangelical Literature Service (ELS) which is in its 65th year.
I was invited to be the main speaker for their 56th Annual Staff Conference which was held in Karigiri near Vellore, 25-27 January 2019. Fortytwo of their Staff from 21 Branches all over India had assembled. I preached to them three messages —
The participants were richly edified and greatly encouraged. The audio version of these Talks is attached here for your free downloading. Do take time to listen to them and forward the same to your Christian friends everywhere.
Pray for a breakthrough in the ministry of ELS in 2019 and the years to come. Uphold the General Secretary Mr. C. Justin and his leadership team in prayer. Though I have not given any of my books to ELS for publishing, they carry all my titles and those of my wife in their bookshops. Visit them and bless them with your words of encouragement.
I am immeasurably indebted to ELS because I received the assurance of Salvation in 1962 through the reading of the Tamil edition of the book, “On being a Real Christian,” by G. Christian Weiss, published by ELS.
